Exhibitions Assistant

February 2023

AVA Gallery and Art Center is committed to exhibiting regional artists through meaningful, engaging contemporary art, cultivating an exchange of ideas and dialogue between the local art community and beyond. AVA maintains a robust exhibition schedule, featuring roughly 25 solo exhibiting artists showing concurrently in our 4 spacious exhibition spaces in addition to 2-3 large group exhibitions each featuring 100+ artists. We are a small-staffed non-profit that is committed to supporting artists. Our exhibition team is dedicated, extremely efficient, and detail-oriented. Our ethics are founded on working hard and supporting one another- all while having a good time. (We are a team of 2, so, not really a team but a dynamic duo). Our current assistant is moving West and we need a clone, frankly. Requirements: a practicing artist, an experienced installer, an easy-going friendly attitude, MFA desired. The position’s schedule bends around the needs of the exhibition schedule, it is a very part-time position: 24-32 hours PER MONTH; in other words, 4-5 days per exhibition installation, which occurs approximately monthly. (Additional hours; 16-24 hours required for quarterly transition installation work in the Members’ Gallery.)

This is a perfect job for a working artist who teaches part-time and wants a fill-in job to make extra money. Plus, there are potential opportunities at AVA, i.e. teaching, exhibiting, meeting other artists, engaging in artist talks, meeting collectors, and much more. Please email Samantha Eckert, Exhibition Manager at  sam@avagallery.org if interested. We would like to find someone to start by April to train with our current Exhibitions Assistant. Cheers!
