January Photo Meet-Up | Loren Fisher

Guest Speaker: Loren Fisher

Loren Fisher Presents:

One of my favorite things to do is light up the night—the bigger the subject, the better! In this presentation, I’ll show how I light paint scenes both large and small using something as simple as a flashlight. I’ll cover the equipment I use, from the light on my iPhone to a jaw-dropping 18-million-candlepower monster that takes up a quarter of my suitcase.

As we look at a wide range of light-painted images, we’ll talk through the camera settings behind them. Most people are surprised to learn that I shoot nearly all of my night scenes at ISO 100. Attendees will also learn how to recognize scenes that are well-suited for light painting and how to scout locations for the best results.

It’s a fun, eye-opening evening that always leads to plenty of “Wow, I didn’t know I could do that!” moments.

BIO:

Working as a professional photographer since 1978, Loren Fisher has photographed subjects as diverse as the Olympics in Seoul, Korea, eagles in Alaska, transporting horses in a 747 from Germany, the 106 covered bridges of Vermont, in the dressing room with the Rockettes, and backstage with Bruce Springsteen.

Loren has published three photography books. His newest is “Vermont Barns & Covered Bridges,” which is available here on the website. Loren also published “Pope John Paul II: An American Celebration,” which documented the papal U.S. visit, and “Branson Backstage,” which looks at the phenomenon of 35 live music theaters in Branson, Missouri.

Crawling through the woods, donning waders in swamps, and searching out what’s good is what keeps Loren excited. While he has traveled to 50 states and 23 countries, Loren loves to seek out the beauty that surrounds him locally.
