AVA Gallery and Art Center, located at 11 Bank Street in Lebanon, NH, is pleased to present the exhibition When I Grow Up I’ll Be a Painter Too by Janet Hulings Bleicken, on display from September 8, 2017 through October 6, 2017 in the E. N. Wennberg Gallery. A reception, free and open to the public, will take place on Friday, September 8 from 5 to 7pm.
Janet Hulings Bleicken, of Hancock, NH, received her BA from Pennsylvania State University and studied at Rhode Island School of Design. Recent exhibitions include shows at the Copley Society in Boston, MA; Hood Museum of Art in Hanover, NH; and the Sharon Arts Center in Sharon, NH. Bleicken’s work is in numerous public collections including at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, NH and the Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery in Keene, NH. For her exhibition at AVA, Bleicken will show a series of narrative paintings titled When I Grow Up I’ll Be a Painter Too. From a very early age, Bleicken was interested in studying art and art history. Her family was always very supportive and she states: “This show, is a journey through my childhood memory of the painters who allowed me to believe I could become a painter too.”
Janet Hulings Bleicken will give a gallery talk on Saturday, September 30 at 3:00pm. The talk is free and open to the public.
