Chris Vigue is a Boston-based photographer. His latest series Believe in Angels, shot mostly in medium format film is based on ideas of ephemera. He will be discussing his process and approach to film and digital photography, specifically how he has recently used flash in painterly ways to change the dynamics of light in his work. Vigue’s work documents everyday life finding decisive moments of magic, with a focus on ex-urban spaces. Vigue will also discuss his background in film development after co-owning and operating a film lab, Tomorrows Studios.
Vigue started his photography career as a professional skateboard photographer in San Francisco, documenting the landscape and people around him. His work has been published and exhibited since. Vigue’s process has evolved as part of that search for finding definitive moments. His use of flash evolved from that period to capture high-speed, high-intensity moments, and his most recent series focuses on landscape reflects the same search for finding precise “magic moments.”
