When considering AI-generated artwork, an interesting question arises: How does AI know what colors make up a sunset? The answer lies in scientific explanation rather than human observation. Looking deeper into this topic, we can explore how paint manufacturers like Behr create and name their colors. It’s reassuring to discover that there is actually a team of humans in the Color and Creative Services department. This team draws inspiration from trends in art, fashion, nature, and travel to develop new colors and palettes. They also utilize market research and surveys to aid the Design Council, a subcommittee responsible for color naming. We invite submissions of artwork that boldly exemplify the use of color. This could include pieces inspired by expressionism, which emphasizes subjective experiences over objective representation. Expressionism seeks to evoke strong emotions by utilizing bright, sometimes unnatural colors to create a visceral impact and enhance the emotional intensity of the artwork. Colorists are particularly skilled at using color; their paintings are often known for using intense, vibrant colors that take center stage, although they can also be masters of subtle color harmonies and relationships.

2D and 3D welcome! This is a group, invitational, curated exhibition. Unfortunately, not all submissions will be included in the exhibition, as our gallery has size limitations. Thank you for your submission! Fees are non-refundable and used to support non-profit exhibition programming.
