“Promises” – broken promises, forgotten promises, promises you made to yourself or others… Feel free to interpret the theme any way you want.
AVA Gallery’s quarterly story-telling series, The Mudroom, is looking for storytellers who can tell a good story related to the theme “Promises.” The event is on the evening of Thursday, March 14, 2024. We would like to hear from storytellers of all ages and from all towns in the Upper Valley and beyond. We welcome first-time storytellers! We don’t expect polished or perfect performances, just true stories told from the heart. Storytellers will be awarded an AVA membership and one guest ticket to the performance.
Stories are limited to 10 minutes and must be factual and autobiographical, not memorized, and must be told live (not read). If you have told a story at the last Mudroom, please wait until the next event to apply. We try to encourage new voices.
To submit your story, call (802) 448-2088. Please leave us your name, email, and a brief summary of your story and its ending.
You may also email us at mudroom@avagallery.org, and in fewer than 300 words, tell us what your story is about and what happens in the end. Please don’t send us an essay or a complete written version of your story!
Please also include a brief biography of fewer than 100 words. Send your story submissions and questions to mudroom@avagallery.org.
The deadline for story submissions is February 16. By February 20, we will select five or six stories from the submission pool. Selected storytellers are expected to attend a rehearsal on Sunday, March 3, at 4:00 pm at AVA.
If you are not selected, please try again! A story rejection says nothing about the value of your story or your chances of being selected for a future Mudroom.
Please spread the word to friends and family!
