Elizabeth D’Amico

Artist Statement:

“As a multi media artist, I work with many different materials, but whatever the medium, my hand and heart creates a work that is uniquely mine whatever the media, theme or intent. Many years of teaching as well as stages in life touched by personal and even global events have influenced my art. I find that my work is seasonally dependent. Preferences of media are strongly influenced by my immediate environment whether I am working in my studio or outdoors.  The natural environment never fails to inspire me.  My concerns for climate crisis, memories of growing up on a farm, gardening, hiking or simply admiring nature’s beauty and nourishing qualities all influence my work. “

“Part of the reason I frequently chose to use found materials is because I feel strongly about being environmentally responsible as an artist. Creating work using found materials is always an honest and all consuming voyage of discovery. I enjoy the surprising twists and turns along the way as I discover new relationships between my work and myself. I also find that I learn and experience so much more by alternating and often combining different media. Frequently, an experience with one medium leads to fresh insights that can be applied to another medium.  Art like life is an adventure to be relished and shared. “
