Art Detectives is a curriculum inspired art enrichment class that takes place in elementary schools throughout the region. It is an in-class field trip with all the magic and creativity that is the center of AVA’s educational program —coming directly to students!
AVA’S Art Detectives class is designed to support and enhance classroom studies while developing art appreciation and literacy. A curricular theme, chosen by the teacher, serves as the inspiration for the choice of artwork and activities. Art prints are provided by the instructor, and AVA provides any materials not normally available at the program site.
The program is led by Susan Davis Shimko who holds a BA in Education from Smith College and an Ed.M. in Learning and Teaching from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and is familiar with the New Hampshire K-12 Curriculum Framework for the Arts and the Vermont Department of Education Arts Grade Expectations.
