The Mudroom Online!

MudZoom– Change: Coming September 10th!

2020 has inundated us with a torrent of change. A world-wide pandemic has changed millions of lives; a new awareness of systemic racism has inspired calls for change and reform; and an upcoming national election, no matter what the outcome, will bring about even more change. It is for these reasons that AVA Gallery’s quarterly storytelling series, The Mudroom, is looking for storytellers who can tell a good story related to the theme “Change.” Whether it is a change of heart or a change of hairstyle—or anything in between—we want your stories. The event will be held the evening of Thursday, September 10, 2020.*

We would like to hear from storytellers from around the Upper Valley and beyond. Storytellers will be awarded a one-year AVA membership. Stories are limited to no more than 10 minutes, must be true and autobiographical, and must be told live (not read).

To submit your story, in fewer than 300 words, give us a summary of your true, personal story. Please don’t send essays, poems, folktales, speeches, or stand-up routines. Just tell us what your story is about and what happens in the end. Please also include a brief biography of fewer than 100 words.

Check out our webpage https://avagallery.org/category/specialprograms/mudroom/  or Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/themudroomatava to get a flavor of the event. The April and June MudZoom events may be viewed on catv8.org or the AVA Gallery YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_ZD1jafP8qe607uGPwtA6A

Story submissions and any questions may be directed to mudroom@avagallery.org. The deadline for story submissions is August 21. By August 24, we will select five or six stories from the submission pool and will contact storytellers. Selected storytellers will be expected to attend a rehearsal held on the afternoon of Sunday, August 30, via Zoom (or in person if circumstances allow).
