Call to Artists: Shape|Shift: Objects and Non-Objectives

Call to Artists: Shape|Shift: Objects and Non-Objectives

Call Dates: Jan 13 - Feb 17, 2025Gallery: AVA Gallery and Art Center

Non-objective art is a general term that defines abstract art forms that lack adherence to identifiable, quantifiable, and observable characteristics of the living world,  in other words, non-representational. (https://www.widewalls.ch/magazine/non-objective-art) “Non-objective art may attempt to visualize the spiritual and can be seen as carrying a moral dimension, standing for virtues like purity and simplicity. In the 1960s a group of American artists, including Sol LeWitt and Donald Judd, embraced the philosophy of non-objective art. By creating highly simplified geometric art out of industrial materials they elevated these to an aesthetic level. Their work became known as minimal art”. (https://www.tate.org.uk/art/art-terms/n/non-objective-art). Calling for abstract, non-representational/non-objective, 2D, and 3D artwork in all mediums. Exhibition dates: March 14-April 26. Delivery: Tuesday, March 11. Pick-up: Tuesday, April 29. 2D artworks must be no larger than 36" longest dimension; 3D: base up to 24", height up to 60", up to 40lbs.
