Artist Statement: Visual Jazz and Homage to the Earth Series

Tibetan prayer flags are colorful and kinetic. They function as a mechanism to launch prayers into the Universe. My body of work began as a kinetic expression – sculptural work that became an homage to the earth, and has now morphed into these Visual Jazz paintings, Homage to the Earth monotypes, and kinetic steel sculptures. I am an avid outdoorsman with a background in Geology. My Homage to the Earth series of monotypes is an expression of my continuing contemplation of our Earth and our dilemma of climate change, which has led me to imagine weather we have not yet seen, climate extremes not yet experienced and their impacts on our Earth and us.
