Greg Gorman

Artist Statement:

I have been working since 1976 as a full time artist in stained glass and painting, and later on, in mosaics. I feel that these three art forms are closely related and each of them informs the others.

Artist Biography

Born in Detroit, Michigan, I have lived here in the Upper Valley (Lyme Center) since 1983 and have been a member of AVA since 1986 or 1987. Before that I have lived, studied and worked in Detroit, Pearl River, NY, London, England and Boston, Mass.

Since 1976 I have been a full-time artist in the field of stained glass, and to this day have my glass studio in Lyme Center. While pursuing my glass career, in England, NY and Boston (primarily), I also pursued my painting career.

I studied drawing and painting at Central School of Art in London, and had a long-term ‘mentoring’ by Clifford West at AVA. I took many, many courses at AVA, for the most part in drawing and, especially, painting. I had the opportunity to participate in several group shows there, as well as a major one-person exhibit.
