I am a photographer, videographer and a dancer. I’m most interested in engaging viewers in a direct experience of my images and am intrigued by capturing elements of movement and stillness through my artwork.
I practice a contemplative form of photography that asks me to become still even as I move through the world. If I “turn on my eyes” and quiet my mind, I begin to really see what’s in front of me without labeling or judging. I find that the very ordinariness of our world can stop me in my tracks and the resulting images move me in unexpected ways.
As a photographer of ordinary things, Carla has exhibited in multiple venues throughout the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire, including Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), Northern Stage, Artistree Gallery, AVA Gallery, Long River Gallery, SculptureFest, and the Norris Cotton Cancer Center. Her photographs are included in permanent collections at DHMC, on the donor wall at Northern Stage, and at Open Door Workshops as well as many individual collectors. Carla also teaches photography both to the general public and to people in difficult circumstances, most recently online during the COVID pandemic.
