Selective Yet Inclusive, AVA's Exhibition Program Thrives!

With more than 3,000 square feet of spectacular exhibition spaces, AVA has become a sought-after venue for established and emerging artists alike. Throughout the year, AVA strives to feature artists working in all media, whose creations evoke a range of emotions while stretching imaginations and expectations. In addition to organizing selected solo and group shows, AVA offers three annual group exhibitions dedicated to showcasing the many talented artists in our region: the Annual Juried Summer Exhibition, the Holiday Exhibition and the High School Invitational Show.

Our 2009 Juried Summer Exhibition drew record participation. A total of 431 works by 241 artists from 86 communities throughout New Hampshire and Vermont were submitted; of these, 141 works by 125 artists were included in the show.

This year's Holiday Exhibition opened with a reception on November 27th, the day after Thanksgiving, and runs through December 30th, 2009. This annual visual extravaganza for artists who are AVA members gives the participants an opportunity to present their diverse talents and perspectives. In the 2008 Holiday Exhibition, more than 90 AVA artists displayed nearly 200 works over the course of the show. The Holiday Exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to find the perfect, locally made, hand-crafted gifts for your friends and family. Over the course of the exhibition, the walls are replenished as works sell, so be sure to visit often!

AVA's Second Annual Best of the Upper Valley High School Invitational Show will run from February 12 through March 5, 2010, with an opening reception on February 12th. This exciting exhibition celebrates the creativity of our community's emerging young artists. Teachers from local high schools and career centers nominate students who show exceptional promise in art and poetry to participate in this show. In 2009, we featured over 100 works of art from 16 local schools in a truly spectacular exhibition.
