CAOS

Saturdays, 11am to 4pm, $5 per child for up to two hours in the Children's Studio

Over the years, CAOS has become one of AVA's most enduringly popular offerings. An open-studio program for families, children and teens, CAOS runs every Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm throughout the school year. This low-cost ($5 per child for up to two hours), high-quality offering takes place in AVA's spacious, well-equipped children's studio, where the energy is palpable and the creativity is boundless. The program is supervised by AVA faculty as well as interns, who are on hand to provide participants with art supplies (at no additional cost) as well as inspiration.

From September 2008 through May 2009, CAOS saw an astonishing increase in participation; during this period, attendance more than quadrupled compared to previous years. The reason is two-fold. For one, the secret is out: CAOS provides a joyous opportunity for creative exploration in the company of family and friends. Its unhurried pace and nurturing environment is, for many, a most welcome break from the stress and rush of everyday life. Second, of course, is the economy. During these tough financial times, all of us at AVA take great pride in being able to offer the community such an inclusive and imaginative program at such a reasonable cost.
